Dear Patrons and Friends of China BIG Idea,
China announced the plan to establish its first chip university- Nanjing University of integrated Circuits-at the Third Semiconductor Intelligence Conference this week.
The chip university will design its curricula entirely surrounding the IC industry. The university will also work closely with Huawei‘s HiSilicon and SMIC to bridge education with commercialization.
No doubt that China will pay a lucrative package to attract the best professionals and professors from all over the world to teach at the university. If chips can be banned from being sold to China, top global talents cannot be banned from teaching in China.
What do you think of the talent strategy?
What would be the optimal strategy that the US or China should each embrace next in its chip competition?
Details of the chip university was published in the October 15th newsletter.
Greatly look forward to your views and insights.
